La Restanza

Castiglione d'Otranto, Salento, Puglia. A group of thirty-year-olds reject emigration as the only possible answer to the economic, ecological and political problems of the area. Thus they decide to stay and tie their lives to the land, even though they do not own any. Organic agriculture, care for biodiversity, the local economy, relationships and the re-stitched social fabric will be the tools they will use to shake up those paradigms that appeared immutable. The film tells their lives, friendships, difficulties and frustrations, it tells how Castiglione becomes the town of Restanza, the art of creating a better elsewhere right there, where one already is, accepting the shadows of the past to build, on the ruins of the old, the foundations of a new world.
