Lockdown Ballad

March 30, 2020. Italy is in quarantine. Gianluca is in isolation in a house by the sea. Upon waking, he receives an unexpected call—an unfamiliar voice simply asks, "I just wanted to know how you are.". His inability to respond instinctively sparks a desire: to bring the same question to the strangers living in the town around him. Filmed during the height of the nationwide lockdown, this work is both the documentation of an artistic process and a form of cinéma vérité. Written, directed, filmed, performed, edited, and scored by the authors themselves, the film aims to give the visual material a raw and intimate connection to the reality of those days.
