Documentary / History
Leonardo da Vinci and Marco Vitruvius Pollione, key figures of the Renaissance and ancient Rome, are linked by the influence of Vitruvius' treatise De Architectura, which marked the history of architecture and science. Vitruvius, an engineer in the service of Caesar and Augustus, may have designed important works in Fano, such as the judicial basilica and the Arch of Augustus. His work inspired not only Leonardo but also masters such as Raphael and Palladio, leaving a legacy that endures to this day.
