JANARA
In a small town in the province of Benevento, San Lupo, children have been disappearing for some time. The police believe it is a pedophile, but the townspeople are afraid that it is the Janara, a witch, who is taking their children away. In fact, there is an old legend about a Janara who was burned at the stake while she was pregnant and who allegedly cursed the villagers and their offspring. Marta and Alexander are a young couple who have been expecting a child for a few weeks. They arrive in San Lupo for testamentary matters related to the death of her grandfather and find themselves embroiled in an affair with increasingly macabre contours. As yet another disappearance sets off a psychosis in the village, Marta realizes that her connection to the legend of the Janara is far from remote. The urge to run away is great, but also strong is the desire to stop this spirit from taking possession of the families' most prized possession. To do so, however, the woman will have to put her life and that of the child she is carrying at stake.
